We Love Oregon

This past weekend we took a quick trip over to the coast. Tom had never been to the Pacific Ocean (well actually he technically has been to it from the other side when he was in New Zealand, but I digress) so we thought since we are all officially Oregonians we should go experience a real Oregon beach trip.

When I was growing up my parents didn't take us to the beach for vacation.  This isn't to say we never went to the beach but it wasn't a regular vacation spot for us as it is for many people in the NW. My dad grew up on the coast and it was ingrained in us that the beach is always cold and rainy, so we spent our vacations at Loon Lake were it was actually warm enough to get in the water and ski. That being said I was expecting cold and rainy for the trip this weekend and Oregon did not disappoint.

We were soaked long before we got to the tide pools at Cannon Beach and probably the best part of the trip for the kids was the indoor heated pool. As we were having our family picture taken in the wind and the rain I had a flash back of a couple other family pictures we've had taken in "nicer" places.

This one was taken at the top of "The Incline" in Colorado Springs in January. (Notice Tom's short sleeve)
This one was taken at the end of September on Bethany's first birthday in San Antonio. Even our 1 year old is in a tank top.

Here we are in Oregon at the end of June in our rain gear and fleece, and you know what? We couldn't be happier. Granted it doesn't rain in The Dalles near as much as it does on the coast but we're still happy to be here. Rain and all.
